Hindi tuition in Simei, the joyful way

Many children in Singapore hear Hindi at home but rarely get to read or write it. The good news: with the right start, Hindi can become one of the parts of the week a child looks forward to most.

At Srijan — our small home-learning studio in Simei — we teach Hindi to young children the same way we teach everything: gently, in tiny groups, at a pace that fits the child in front of us. This guide walks through how that actually works, whether your child is starting from scratch or already knows a few letters.

Why start Hindi early?

Young children absorb sounds and scripts far more easily than we expect. Starting Hindi in the early primary years — while reading habits are still forming — means the Devanagari script never feels foreign. It becomes just another way to read, alongside English.

Early Hindi also keeps a child connected to family, festivals and stories. For families in MOE schools, it supports Mother Tongue confidence; for those in international schools, it keeps a beautiful additional language alive.

How we teach Hindi, step by step

We don't rush to worksheets. We build in a sensible order, and only move on when a child is genuinely ready:

What a Hindi class looks like

Batches are small on purpose, so every child is heard. A typical session mixes a little new learning with revision, a reading-aloud moment, and something to make or colour that anchors the day's letter or word. Children who are shy at first almost always warm up once they feel known.

Not sure where your child is starting from?

That's completely normal. Send a quick WhatsApp with your child's age and school, and Sweta will suggest a gentle starting point.
